Liturgical Ministries 

 

Altar Servers

Consists of youth, between the ages of 8 and 18 who has received First Holy Communion.

 

Choir

Enriches, inspires, comforts, and motivates the worshiping community through sacred songs as an expression of faith, spirituality and devotion.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Assist the celebrant with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Jesus at Mass.

 

Extraordinary Ministers to the Sick and Infirmed

Eucharistic Ministers  bring the Eucharist in a reverent and timely manner to the sick and infirmed Catholics within the parish at their homes.

 

Reader

Proclaim God's Word to the congregation during various liturgical celebrations, particularly during Mass.

 

Sacristans

Manage, organize, and clean Sacristy.  Sacristans also assist the celebrant in the preparation of the Mass.

 

Usher-Ministry of Hospitality

Activities include greeting and seating parishioners, facilitating the offertory collection and procession and guiding the communion procession.

Faith Formation

 

Baptism Preparation Committee

Assist the priests during baptismal classes and set up on the day baptism.

 

Bible Study

The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of our faith and its relationship to our lives through the study of God's Word.

 

Charismatic Prayer Group

The Catholic Charismatic movement consists of small prayer groups which are living cells that build up the Body of Christ and adhere to the teachings of the Catholic faith.

Ministries of Services

 

Pastoral Council 

The Council's primary role is to advise the pastor concerning the administration of the parish, to promote parish life, to encourage the involvement of the laity

 

Finance Council

The committee advises the pastor in the matters of church finance and the administration of temporal goods.

 

Building Committee

This committee makes recommendations to the pastor, finance council, and pastoral council concerning the repair, maintenance and development of the church facilities.

 

Creole Festival Committee

The creole festival committee organizes and conducts the Annual Creole Festival.

 

Holy Ghost Diner

The community diner provides fellowship and free hot meals to the indigent of the community.

 

Fundraising Committe

The committee organizes different fund raising events for the "One In The Spirit" Capital Campaign. Our goal is to erect a new Parish Life Center in place of the old school building.

 

Money Counters

Volunteers count the monies collected in the parish office and weekend Masses.

 

Married Couples Ministry

To strengthen marriage and family life and to promote fellowship among the married couples of the parish through the organization of social and recreational events.

 

Youth Ministry

This ministry aids the parish youth in faith formation, spiritual development, mission awareness, psycho-sexual and personality development, and vocation.

Sisters of the Holy Family

Sisters of the Holy Family Associate is a Roman Catholic woman or man who enters into a temporary covenant relationship with the congregation.

 

Friends of Henriette Delille

Mother Henriette Delille, foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Family.  Her work included visiting and caring of the sick and elderly and ministering to the poor and faithful prayer.

 

Blood Covenant Women 

Blood Covenant  Women

ministers in various ways, first in the form of prayer and almsgiving and assist in various ministries in the church parish.

 

Knights of Peter Claver/

Knights of Peter Claver 4th Degree

The purpose of this organization is to render service to God and his Holy Church by recognizing the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man.

Junior Knights

(Boys from age seven to eighteen)

 

Ladies Auxiliary

The intent and the purpose of the ladies auxiliary are to render service to God and His Holy Church; to be faithful to its doctrines and sensitive to the needs of the church, the family and community.

Ladies of Grace

This division strives to be ever faithful to the Holy Catholic Church and maintain uncompromising grace, spirituality and benevolence.

 

Senior Sodality

The Sodality acknowledges the Blessed Virgin Mary as principal patroness.  Our actions are to visit the sick and shut-ins, daily prayers for our church parish and community as well as volunteering our time to the church parish.

 

Legion of Mary/Tower of Ivory

The main purpose of the Legion Mary is to give glory to God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active cooperation in Mary's and the church's work.

 

St. Joseph Society

St. Joseph Society honor and dedicate their time and talents to St. Joseph and pray diligently to him to protect the Church and families.

 

Religious Education Program

Our religious education program assists families in the faith formation/edu-

cation for kindergarten through 11th grade students.

RCIC/RCIA is the initiation of un-baptized adults or children into the richness of the Catholic faith. The RCIC/RCIA is the process through which the Catholic Church welcomes new members.

 

 Women of Grace

The Women of Grace® Study Program leads women on an exciting journey to discover the gift of The true and essential nature God has endowed to woman referred to by Blessed John Paul II as the femininegenius.authentic femininity™, holiness of life, and woman's purpose and mission in the world today. Taking the Blessed Virgin Mary as their exemplar and Woman's potentiality for physical maternity points to her metaphysical reality – she is called to bring life to the world.

Healthcare Ministry

Our mission is to serve God by serving our congregation in the areas of health and wholeness.  We realize that we are body, mind and spirit and that all three must be nurtured to be in balance; therefore we address issues of health in a holistic manner.  The vision is to ultimately be a blessing to the congregation of Holy Ghost and community we serve by decreasing as well as preventing the effects of disease and its process through education, prevention topics, early detection screening and referral.

The objective is to give opportunities to single people, widows and widowers and the divorced of the parish to share with each other their struggles and joys, their dreams and expectations.

 

S.V.D. MINISTRY

The goal of SVD-Associates is to inspire lay Catholics to learn more of the spirituality of the Society of the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD), keep up-to-date with the lives of SVDs and engage in  prayer for the success of the SVD missions around the world. That’s why VISION and MISSION SVD- VISION: Associate is:

SVD-Associate aspires to follow the example of the Society of the Divine Word Missionary or “SOCIETAS VERBI DIVINI,” Charism to proclaim the Word of God to families, local churches and the whole world.
